Sue Davies has loved making art since she was a child. Art was one of those constants in life where she felt empowered. Sue is a graduate of Art and Art History from McMaster University where she focused on collage and painting in acrylic. After receiving her Honours BFA from McMaster University, she attended the University of Western Ontario and received a Bachelor of Education and became an art educator for The Halton District School Board. Her artistic career slowed while teaching art to students and raising two children, now young adults. As of 2019, Sue retired from teaching and is back to art making, joyfully painting everyday from a studio space in her Oakville home. Sue's work has been in many juried shows, art auctions and collections over the years.

Beverage of choice
I come from a long line of coffee drinkers. It's the best beverage to get me going in the morning.
What do you listen to when you work?
I listen to True Crime when Im working on my art. I get in a zone and then jump when family members come to my studio to visit. Paintbrushes have been known to fly.
Describe the person your work appeals to in 3 words
My work appeals to those who ponder, like Cubism and are a tad eclectic, like me.
Favourite medium
I love acrylic paint because it dries quickly and I can build up layers. It's forgiving if you don't get things right the first time.
When did you start making art, and why?
As soon as I could hold a pencil I started making art. My mother was an artist and it was encouraged.
Favourite musical artist / band right now
Kate Bush has always been at the top of my list. I've rediscovered The Cure. I also am listening to bands from the 90's like Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins.
